Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will be the authoritative document.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Normanton, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A full, valid driving licence is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional conditions may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations for vehicle hire can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Normanton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely handled by trusted payment processors.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed at this point. Upon return, the vehicle must be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Please return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as when you picked it up; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, inform us as soon as possible to avoid additional fees. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges incurred during your rental, along with an associated administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. For comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts, please refer to the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is in place. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities or purposes is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside the specified geographical boundaries without prior approval are also unacceptable.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Normanton is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
